Part 1 — Models

Models are Python classes that map to database tables. Define them once — Buraq handles the SQL.

Define your models

Using the ORM

All ORM operations are async. Always await them:

# Create
post = await Post.objects.create(
    title="Hello World",
    slug="hello-world",
    content="My first post.",
    is_published=True,
)

# Fetch all
posts = await Post.objects.all()

# Filter
published = await Post.objects.filter(is_published=True).order_by("-created_at")

# Get one (raises DoesNotExist if not found)
post = await Post.objects.get(slug="hello-world")

# Get or None
post = await Post.objects.get_or_none(slug="hello-world")

# Update
await Post.objects.filter(id=1).update(is_published=True)

# Delete
await Post.objects.filter(id=1).delete()

Signals

React to model events:
